Doug started in management consulting after many years in senior management with international companies.

Doug is the founder and Managing Director of Executive Training and Consultancy Limited (ETC). Since starting ETC, Doug has helped a variety of companies from various sectors in the UK and throughout Europe. His tailored consultancy packages range from short-term project work to full 3-year company growth programmes, depending on the needs of each client.

Prior to setting up ETC, Doug worked with Burns International Security Services, a multi-billion dollar global security company formerly part of the Borg Warner Group which included companies such as Wells Fargo Armoured, Wells Fargo Guarding and Pony Express to name a few. In the mid 90s, operating as Borg Warner Protective Services PLC, their annual turnover was in excess of $8 billion.

One of the key factors to Doug’s success in consultancy, alongside his vast working knowledge of business operations, is his ability to talk openly and honestly with business owners, senior managers and directors to establish what help is required to improve their business. Sue’s career spans 40 years of wide-ranging business and commercial experience gained in numerous organisations from large, £multimillion plcs to SMEs and owner-managed businesses across a wide spectrum of sectors; manufacturing, media, financial services, education, public sector.

She worked her way up the ranks in a leading West Midlands manufacturing company from apprentice to Product Manager for a £20m product range, responsible for driving sales, profit and return on investment. She managed all aspects of the marketing mix, and the full product lifecycle from compiling business cases for new product development through to launch and beyond.

Sue then moved into financial services where she successfully drove the marketing strategy of an owner-managed IFA to grow the business from £1m turnover to over £10m turnover, enabling the owner to sell and exit the business within his target timeframe.

Over the last 10 years, her freelance career has led to her undertaking marketing communications roles in public-sector programmes including the £300m Home Access pilot programme, and then the Machinery of Government (MoG) transition period within the Skills Funding Agency.

She subsequently moved into project management working on two major IT-led business transformation programmes for both a national newspaper group, and a UK top 20 university’s £50m three-year programme.

Sue is keen to bring the culmination of all this experience to help ETC’s clients grow their businesses and their profits.

Rex has consulted in strategy and operations for Deloitte, first trained as a Coach with Sir John Whitmore and continues with Michael Neill. He is a specialist in business growth and change having led the global roll out of programme and project management across Deloitte, mentoring business leaders at the University of Oxford Said Business School turning around a £120 million programme, merging two retail giants and growing the profits of a small business by 25% in a year.

Rex’s first project was to refurbish a World War II Spitfire to full flight standard; she is flying today with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. He also project managed the build of an air combat range and authored the ground equipment Master Specification for Eurofighter Typhoon.

Rex has set up woodworking, concrete housing and mining equipment businesses in the former Soviet Union – Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan just after the Berlin Wall came down in 1989.

Rex learnt the dynamics of small businesses in healthcare, science communication and running his own small business, successfully making the dynamic and challenging decisions required in this environment and growing businesses.

Rex holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, a Masters in Business Administration and is a Medal winner with the Royal Aeronautical Society.

After graduating at London University, Chris gained corporate experience in the transport, fleet management and vehicle rental and leasing industries across Europe.

He specialised in sales and marketing, business development and mergers & acquisitions.

Chris has been instrumental in the launch of many new companies and services as well as in the negotiation and implementation of several successful acquisitions.

He went on to work in consultancy and entered into a two-year contract with the Boston Consulting Group in Germany.

He then purchased a print franchise and has over 20 years’ experience of running his own business both as a franchisee and as an independent business.

His principal achievement during this time was to create the UK’s first online document printing business.
He has experience as a marketing adviser and mentor for many start-up businesses on behalf of the Prince’s Trust and Business Link.

His print business was sold in June 2018 and Chris now offers his services as a Specialist Consultant with the intention to help small businesses grow and prosper.

He is also a Higher Education tutor and lecturer for the Business & Entrepreneurship degree courses at King Edward V1 College in Stourbridge.

When Steve started his international business career more than 35 years ago, handling 60 consignments per week to markets worldwide, it seemed like an enjoyable, rewarding and slightly’ sadistic’ challenge. Since then, he has worked in senior positions for companies involved in a diverse range of products and sectors, regularly visiting and establishing significant levels of profitable sales in over 30 countries. It was during a time of ‘recharging his batteries’ whilst working as a senior international trade adviser for UKTI, that he realised that with the correct attitudes and support, it should be possible for most companies to take advantage of the enormous levels of opportunities in markets worldwide. He has helped companies involved in everything from engineering, building materials, recycling and waste management, petrochemical, high value design interiors and gift products, magazine and book distribution and even glass eyes, to sell successfully overseas and still does on a daily basis.

I spent my younger years moving from country to country, experiencing living in different cultures around the world. I like to believe that this has given me a strong global outlook on life and a very accepting appetite for change.

It was in Holland where I started my career with DHL in 2002 and had 19 years in various positions running programs for some of the largest multinationals such as Microsoft, Ford, VW, Robert Bosch, Goodyear, among others. I was responsible for supporting the global operations setup and running a variety of projects from continuous improvement, Recovery to Change & Transformation projects. I held a pivoting role influencing internal & external stakeholders from shop floor to leadership level, Project Governance and the facilitation of workshops.

I am qualified in Prince II, Lean Six Sigma, Agile, scrum and am an accomplished facilitator, all of which allow me to call on a vast range of tools and methods to help me adapt different approaches to solving problems.

In 2019 I made the step to support Micro Businesses and SME’s focus on the basics of their business using the tools and methods I have learnt over the last 20 years. There are two key areas of a business that I believe are overlooked. One is the clear understanding and constant review of processes which are the foundation of a business and the other being the employees who are vital for completing the necessary tasks for that business. George's career started with a distinguished 18-years in the Royal Navy as an engineer. When the time came to leave the navy, the skills he had gained put him in high demand. Over the following 13 years, he was a key engineer and project manager on many defence-related projects centred around aviation systems.

The experience gained on those projects was invaluable. They led to a deep understanding of the need for solid commercial contracts and robust business processes. Having these in place protects both companies and goes a long way towards ensuring project success.

Recognition of George's abilities came via a move to Newcastle University as a Senior Commercial Manager. His role there was to maximise the IP and commercialisation opportunities for a new spin-off venture. George achieved his targets on time and under budget, which is a testament to his capability to apply the skills developed and honed over many years.

In 2010, George achieved an MBA from Newcastle Business School. Wanting a new challenge, George became a paralegal, specialising in commercial contracts. He also consults on optimising operations processes and the complex world of export control.

She worked with Staffordshire building society as a customer representative and within 18 months she became the branch manager. The Building Society then had 2 mergers of which Jenny was part of implementing change and making it work well within her team. She was a branch manager for Nationwide Building Society for 15 years. Jenny was also the flagship branch Operations Manager.

Whilst raising a family Jenny got involved with her family business, looking after the daily accounts and administration for over 10 years.
